The journey began with Doug Brown, who, after serving in the Vietnam War and working in marine technology, transitioned to the painting and construction industry in 1974. Doug quickly established himself as a skilled contractor, expanding his expertise to include a wide range of trades.
As his business grew, so did his family, with his eldest son, Jonah, joining him in the trade at a young age. As he entered his teenage years, he grew to love carpentry and was taught by his father to handle all carpentry-related items on the job. Jonah eventually landed in Mechanical Engineering as a career in the auto industry, where he found joy in design and engineering challenges.
In 2001, Jonah returned to the business and began building the Chelsea Paint & Carpentry brand that exists today. Jonah used all that he had learned from working with his father to build upon his father’s good reputation, improve their customer service, and supply a network of trustworthy subcontractors to his clients. Jonah now enjoys the company of the finest tradesmen and women as employees working with him in the Washtenaw County area.
